About Missouri Votes Conservation

Missouri Votes Conservation
Missouri Votes Conservation (MVC) is a non-partisan statewide organization that advocates for pro-environment legislation and political candidates in Missouri.  We represent the broad diversity of conservation interests in the state -- from environmentalists, scientists and business owners to hunters, anglers and independent farmers.  We focus on the political arena to achieve sound conservation public policy in Missouri.

MVC is affiliated with the League of Conservation Voters, a widely respected national organization that advocates for the environment through political channels.

MVC Education Fund is the 501(c)3 sister organization of MVC and works to strengthen the environmental movement by educating voters and decision-makers about the importance of protecting the environment through sound public policy.

MVC's work is based on a four-step approach to building political effectiveness:
1) We identify consensus issues and build coalitions: It is important to build ties among the various pro-conservation groups and to identify issues where we can all speak with one voice.

2) We communicate and lobby: We communicate the priorities of the conservation community to policy makers through regular reports, position papers and testimony before committees. At the same time, we keep the conservation community informed about important issues being raised at the Capitol. Sign up on our e-mail list to stay informed and help us lobby your own legislators.

3) We hold policy-makers accountable: we track their votes on key issues and publish an annual Conservation Scorecard detailing those votes.

4) We get involved in elections: we work to support pro-conservation candidates and to defeat politicians who have consistently poor records on environmental issues.
