2010 Conservation Lobby Day
a Big Success

Missouri’s environment got a big boost from its supporters on February 3rd when more than 125 concerned citizens convened on the state capitol in Jefferson City for Conservation Lobby Day. MVC, the Missouri Coalition for the Environment and Missouri Sierra Club co-sponsored the event, which brought everyday citizens from across Missouri together with state legislators to advocate for strong protections for Missouri's environment.

Advancing Energy Efficiency Policies: Policies include encouraging energy-smart building practices, converting industrial heat into electricity, and assisting commercial and residential building owners finance energy efficiency retrofits.
Protecting Water Quality: Ensuring adequate monitoring and enforcement to protect Missouri’s streams and lakes.
Upgrading State Parks: Ensuring funding for vitally-needed capital improvements to maintain Missouri’s excellent parks.
Building Green with LEED Certification: Making buildings more energy efficient through green building standards.
Advancing Climate Change Legislation: Opposing two House Resolutions that seek to roll back the environmental and economic advances of pending federal cap-and-trade legislation.
